EVENDALE, OHIO - Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation (AWAC) has ordered 75 Bombardier CRJ200 twinjet regional airliners powered by GE CF34-3B1 engines, with options for an additional 75 Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft. The engines for the orders and options is valued at an estimated $600 million.Aircraft deliveries are to begin in October and continue into 2004.AWAC currently operates nine CF34-3A-powered CRJ200 aircraft."We are very pleased that Air Wisconsin has decided to expand their CRJ200 fleet so substantially," said Frank Klaus, general manager of Small Commercial Engine Operations of GE Aircraft Engines. "This certainly reflects their satisfaction with the performance of both the engine and the aircraft."Nearly 1600 firm orders and 1300 options have been placed for CF34-3 engines by 37 customers throughout the world, including five new customers added last year. As a result of the engines continued popularity, production has been increased 30% to more than 400 units this year.In addition to the 50-passenger CRJ200 powered by the CF34-3B engine, Bombardiers new 70-passenger CRJ700 is powered by CF34-8C1 engines, and its new 90-passenger CRJ900 under development is powered by CF34-8C5 engines.The CF34-8C1 has been in revenue service since January with Brit Air of France, and the CF34-8C5 is scheduled to enter revenue service with Mesa Airlines in 2003.
