Electrical Power and Avionics for the 6th-Generation Era

GCAP

Where mission capability meets platform readiness

GE Aerospace brings proven avionics and electrical power capabilities together in one supplier relationship, so platforms can move from architecture to execution with fewer integration seams and less risk.
    GCAP

Next-generation combat air demands more capability without more complexity.

Future platforms must deliver mission capability faster, under intense schedule pressure, while preserving sovereign freedom to adapt over time. That means architecture matters as much as the equipment with scalable power, open avionics, and a foundation that can evolve as mission requirements change.
    Matt Burns
President and General Manager of Avionics Systems
"The success of next-generation air platforms will depend less on any one component and more on the architecture that connects capability, power, adaptability, and future growth. The programs that move fastest will be the ones that reduce complexity early and build on proven capability from the start."

    Backed by UK capability

GE Aerospace has been embedded in UK defence aerospace for over eight decades and across Europe for nearly a century. Our avionics and electrical power systems are designed and built here, sustained here, and supported by a European industrial ecosystem that spans 18 countries.

    Spend

Annual European procurement and investment exceeding €1.84 billion, a commitment to the defense and aerospace industrial ecosystem.

Reducing complexity across the systems layer

Fewer supplier interfaces. Fewer integration unknowns. GE Aerospace delivers fielded capability across avionics, electrical systems, data management, and weapons integration, giving program teams a simpler starting point for the hardest part of platform development.

    MOSA

Open, modular architecture enabling tech insertion and freedom to modify

    IMA platform

Partitioned compute + deterministic network backbone for multi-supplier avionics hosting

    Electric Power

End-to-end power—from generation to protection and control—built for growth and resilience

    HSDTS/NAS

High-throughput mission data load/collect/debrief with scalable secure storage

    Recorders

Crash-survivable/networked recording plus configuration and analysis tools

    Stores Management

Safety-proven stores control plus weapons integration software
    Kris Shepherd
President & General Manager of Electrical Power
"Next-generation military programs demand advanced mission capability. As power needs grow, integrated electrical power solutions must deliver reliable performance in harsh environments, enable future configurability, and accelerate capability to the warfighter."

    Pillars of 6th-Gen Readiness

These capabilities help programs integrate faster and evolve with greater control over time.

    Open Architecture Mission Computing

A partitioned computing and networking foundation designed for multi-supplier hosting and sovereign freedom to modify. Aligned to MOSA principles with deterministic networking and remote I/O aggregation, the architecture supports lifecycle governance, verification readiness, and predictable interoperability as requirements evolve. Fielded on Boeing 777X and 787, with additional defense applications including the MV-75 Cheyenne II.
    Electrical Power Foundation

End-to-end electrical power spanning generation, conversion, storage, distribution, and control. Modular building blocks and integration expertise reduce development risk and support growth margin as platform power demands increase over time. Designed, developed, and produced at Cheltenham, UK, with an extensive fighter and rotorcraft power distribution pedigree including F-35 and Apache AH-64E.
High-Speed Data Transfer and Network-Attached Storage

Secure, scalable capability to load, collect, and debrief mission data across aircraft and ground workflows. Built for high-throughput operations and growing mission data volumes, the system supports rapid turnaround, disciplined configuration, and reliable post-sortie recovery without re-architecting the platform. In service across multiple platforms supporting mission data load, collection, debrief, and re-missioning.
    Stores Management and Weapons Integration

A safety-proven stores control foundation with scalable weapons integration software to support platform growth. The approach emphasizes predictable integration, configuration discipline, and qualification readiness, enabling new store introductions while maintaining safety and mission effectiveness. We’ve delivered more than 4,000 stores management system ship sets worldwide.
