Innovative heat exchanger for applications in a new generation aircraft engine

The project is focused on groundbreaking research and development that is innovative on a global scale. As part of the project, a new curved heat exchanger with completely new architecture will be created and built with extruded elements.
This solution is being advanced for single-aisle aircraft, which currently account for nearly 60% of the market, with manufacturers and airline operators in mind.
The new heat exchanger will provide increased heat transfer efficiency and reduction of size and weight, while maintaining the highest standards of reliability and safety for passenger flights. In the broader term, this will contribute to improving the efficiency of next-generation engines by making better use of available space and reducing engine weight and fuel consumption, thereby supporting the development of low-emission aviation.
The scope of the project includes both industrial research and development works, in particular:
• development of a curved heat exchanger architecture design,
• design conducting advanced numerical analyses,
• carrying out laboratory tests in close to real operating conditions
