GE Secures Seven Orders For New Gas Turbine Exchange Program

June 23, 1997

EVENDALE, OH - GE Marine & Industrial Engines (M&I) has secured seven separate contracts for its new Gas Turbine Exchange Program (GTEP). Two of the projects will exchange LM5000 aeroderivative gas generators, and five will replace LM2500 gas generators.

M&I's GTEP is a breakthrough in the power generation industry, offering reduced maintenance and fuel costs while increasing gas turbine performance. The GTEP is an economical alternative to overhauling an aging gas turbine because an existing LM is simply traded-in for a new one. With this exchange, customers get a new engine configuration that features the latest technology.

M&I's GTEP is designed to provide these benefits:

  • fixed price versus estimated overhaul costs;
  • no costly repair surprises or delays during overhaul;
  • no lease engine fees;
  • reduced maintenance and fuel costs;
  • minimal downtime because there is only one engine swap, not two; and
  • all-new GE parts and new engine performance that come with a one-year new engine warranty.

Another GTEP advantage is the opportunity to increase cash flow with book-value trade-ins and tax benefits.

GE M&I is part of GE Aircraft Engines and is headquartered in Evendale. M&I is the world's largest designer, developer and manufacturer of aeroderivative gas turbines for a variety of power generation, gas compression and commercial and military marine propulsion applications.
