During a Senate Commerce Committee hearing yesterday on next-generation aviation technologies, GE Aerospace General Manager of Advanced Technologies Arjan Hegeman gave senators a look at what the company is doing to advance the future of flight.

The race to decarbonize flight just picked up speed. Airbus and CFM International will collaborate on tests of an aircraft engine fueled by hydrogen that, if all goes according to plan, would carry passengers in the mid-2030s while producing no carbon emissions during flight.
