The state-of-the-art GE Aerospace Celma facility in Petrópolis, Brazil provides Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services to more than 30 commercial airlines. Established in 1951, the Celma facility previously was state-owned, evolving from an electromechanical company into a key player in aircraft engine maintenance, serving both commercial and military aviation. Fully owned by GE Aerospace since 1996, Celma ensures the efficiency and longevity of our GEnx-1B, CF6-80C2, LEAP-1A and 1B, CFM56-5B, CFM56-7B, and CF34-10E engines that power airline fleets across the region.

In Mexico, the GE Aerospace Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center in Querétaro offers advanced engineering support, specializing in the design, analysis, and testing of aerospace components. This includes additive manufacturing (3D printing) and other cutting-edge technologies. This facility plays a critical role in enhancing and evolving engine technologies, contributing to safer and more reliable commercial flights throughout Latin America.

For commercial and defense customers in the region, GE Aerospace provides onsite and field services support, including on-wing engine troubleshooting, inspections, and minor repairs.

Collaborating with the government for safer skies

Demonstrating our commitment to a safer and more inclusive aviation industry, GE Aerospace in Brazil has joined the “Asas para Todos” (Wings for All) program, launched by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). Program priorities include promoting diversity and inclusion, accessibility, and women’s participation, as well as collaborations with public universities to build a pipeline of future aviation industry professionals.

In Mexico, GE Aerospace has played a significant role in the development of an aerospace hub in Querétaro State that links academia, the local government and the aerospace industry. GE Aerospace's presence in Querétaro has fostered the creation of numerous high-skilled jobs in engineering, manufacturing, and support services. GE Aerospace collaborates with local suppliers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop a robust supply chain ecosystem in the state. This collaboration helps to enhance the capabilities of local suppliers, improve quality standards, and foster innovation.

At GE Aerospace in Latin America, we cultivate a culture of innovative solutions that helps operators maximize engine availability and reliability, performance, fuel efficiency and safety. Our engineering center in Querétaro, Mexico, and our MRO facilities in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, and Três Rios, continue to lead the way with world-class expertise, driven by our team’s commitment to safety, quality, delivery and cost – in that order – and enhanced by our continuous improvement journey facilitated by FLIGHT DECK, our proprietary lean operating model. This allows, for example, reduced lead time in critical MRO activities in Brazil or for the LEAP ignition leads at our Unison plant in Saltillo, Mexico.
