GE Aerospace Investing $1 Billion to Expand and Upgrade MRO Facilities Worldwide
GE Aerospace announced plans to invest more than $1 billion over five years in its Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and component repair facilities worldwide. These investments will help create capacity to meet growth in both the widebody and narrowbody installed base by adding additional engine test cells and equipment. The funding also will add cutting-edge technology, including enhanced inspection techniques, to reduce turnaround times for customers as well as expand component repair capability within its overhaul shops.
EASA Certifies LEAP-Powered Airbus A321XLR
CFM International is celebrating certification of the LEAP-powered Airbus A321XLR by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The A321XLR marks the fifth member of the A320neo family aircraft powered by LEAP engines. Supporting aircraft certification were updates to the engine’s type certificates, which EASA and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted on July 10.
GE Aerospace Signs UK MOD's Defence Aviation Net Zero Charter
GE Aerospace signed the UK Ministry of Defence's (MOD) Defence Aviation Net Zero Charter. Through this Charter, GE Aerospace and partners will work together to capitalize on opportunities that improve operational effectiveness and support the MOD efforts in the Defence Aviation Net Zero Strategy.
GE Aerospace Honors Veterans in the United States and United Kingdom
GE Aerospace (NYSE: GE) announced today at the Royal International Air Tattoo in the United Kingdom that it is donating $150,000 to two separate charities that support veterans as they transition from military service into the civilian workforce and beyond. The donation will be shared by Hiring our Heroes in the United States and Forces Employment Charity in the United Kingdom.
This will be GE Aerospace’s first appearance at either show as a stand-alone company after separating from GE Vernova in April. But the company will do much more than set up a booth and show the crowds some engines. It will demonstrate its unique scale and reach, communicate its special sense of purpose, and show how it intends to write the next chapter of military aviation history. “We are looking forward to showcasing our global presence, reaffirming our support for the transatlantic military alliance, and promoting sustainable defense aviation, among other endeavors,” says Rita Flaherty, vice president of global sales and business development for GE Aerospace Defense and Systems.

GE Aerospace and Kratos Partner on Small Affordable Engines
GE Aerospace and Kratos Turbine Technologies, a division of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc., signed a Memorandum of Understanding to partner on the development and production of small affordable engines that could potentially power unmanned aerial systems (UAS), collaborative combat aircraft, and similar applications.
GE Aerospace and National Airlines have signed an engine sales agreement for eight GE90-110B engines to power four Boeing-777F cargo airplanes.
GE Aerospace and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory have reached a new Cooperative Research & Development Agreement (CRADA) on supercomputing, expanding the company’s capabilities to design next-generation aircraft engine technologies like Open Fan.
Japan Airlines Signs Deal for GEnx to Power New 787s
Following Japan Airlines’ agreement with Boeing for up to 20 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, GE Aerospace announced an order from the airline for GEnx-1B engines to power the new aircraft.
CFM International announced today that progress is accelerating for the Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines (RISE*) technology demonstration program, with more than 250 tests completed and new research partnerships formed as technologies continue to mature on the way to full-scale Open Fan tests.

British Airways Orders First GEnx Engines for New 787 Dreamliners
GE Aerospace announced that International Airlines Group (IAG) has committed to purchasing GEnx engines to power six new 787 Dreamliners for British Airways – the first introduction of this engine into their fleet.
GE Aerospace and Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier of Türkiye, have signed a combined engines sales and TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement for 8 GE90-110B engines to power four Turkish Cargo Boeing 777 Freighters.

American Airlines Orders 180 CF34 Engines to Power New Embraer 175 Fleet
GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE) announced that American Airlines has finalized an order for 180 CF34-8E engines plus spares to power its fleet of 90 new Embraer 175 regional jets.
Nordic Aviation Capital Selects LEAP-1A Engines for A321neo Family Aircraft
Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC), a global leader in aircraft leasing, today announced an order for ten LEAP-1A engines to power five Airbus A321neo family aircraft. The agreement also includes options for two additional LEAP-powered A321neo family aircraft.
On the second day of the Farnborough International Airshow, Qatar Airways announced that its significant order of Boeing 777X aircraft has been expanded to include an impressive 20 Boeing 777-9s. This is in addition to its existing order of 40 Boeing 777-9 commercial aircraft, bringing the total to 94 commercial and cargo Boeing 777X aircraft.
Aerospace Technology Leaders Call for Expanding Research on Non-CO2 Emissions
The chief technology officers of Boeing, Airbus, Dassault, GE Aerospace, Rolls-Royce, RTX and Safran have called for government research programs that enhance scientific understanding of aviation non-CO2 effects such as contrails, nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur, aerosols and soot. The technology leaders released a joint statement at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow emphasizing the importance of accelerating efforts critical to understanding and reducing aviation’s non-CO2 effects.
GE Aerospace and HAECO Sign Agreements to Extend Offload Services and GBSA for GE90 Engines
GE Aerospace and the HAECO Group have agreed to extend service and offload agreements for GE90 Engines through 2040. Additionally, a 15-year Material Service Agreement for GE90 engines has been established under which HAECO will continue to provide engine overhaul services for GE Aerospace and expand its external GE90 maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) market.
Avolon Expands CFM Portfolio with 150 LEAP-1A Engine Order
Avolon, a leading global aviation finance company, today announced an order for 150 LEAP-1A engines to power 75 new Airbus A320neo family aircraft. The agreement also includes purchase rights for 150 additional LEAP-1A engines.
Macquarie AirFinance Signs Agreement for 40 LEAP-1B Engines
Macquarie AirFinance today finalized an agreement for 20 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft powered by 40 LEAP-1B engines.

EVA Orders GEnx Engines to Power Boeing 787 Fleet Expansion
GE Aerospace announced that following EVA Air’s recent deal to purchase four Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft, the airline has placed an order for GEnx engines to power their new aircraft.
GE Aerospace Selected to Support SNC for USAF Survivable Airborne Operations Center Effort
GE Aerospace has been selected by SNC to contribute to the overhaul and upgrade of the GEnx-2B engines powering the United States Air Force Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) Boeing 747-8. GE Aerospace will support various activities leading up to SAOC aircraft delivery.
THAI Extends TrueChoice Service Agreement for GE90 Engine Fleet
GE Aerospace announced today that Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) signed a six-year agreement to extend their TrueChoice™ Service with GE Aerospace that covers the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the airline’s GE90 engine powered Boeing 777 commercial fleet.
